Even though the reign of the drag strip is long-gone, Pomona continues to thrill race fans in metro LA. Being only 45 miles east of HOT ROD’s El Segundo office, it’s an easy trek to premiere NHRA events like the Auto Club NHRA Finals. Shawn Langdon clinched his first 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel world championship by running 3.784 to beat Doug Kalitta, but it was the mighty John Force who lost to Matt Hagan in the final round. However, Force and his Castrol GTX Mustang still managed to win the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car world championship in total points.
